Dr. Higgins Neyland's Treatment Philosophy:

We understand that therapy is hard work, time-consuming, and expensive. We want to make sure that you are getting your money's worth and that you are making concrete progress towards your goals. In order to do this, Dr. Higgins Neyland collaboratively sets concrete goals at the outset of treatment and uses these goals to track progress with her patients. She works with her patients to identify the function of their problematic behavior(s). This helps to reduce shame around the behavior(s) and encourages acceptance of oneself that unblocks patients and leads to change. Dr. Higgins Neyland teaches her patients value-congruent coping skills to use in place of the problematic behavior(s). This enables her patients to reach their goals and build a life worth living. Her goal is to teach patients to become their own therapist and views herself as a coach in this way. As a result, patients should expect weekly "homework" outside of sessions to practice everything they are learning in therapy.

Dr. Higgins Neyland strongly believes in using evidence-based therapeutic approaches and regularly attends scientific conferences in order to remain current on treatment advances.
